Letter from The Editor
Hello my Riding Readers!
Winter Riding. The new year brings on some interesting ride
conditions. Some people don’t even know these ride conditions
exist as their bikes are so far hidden under Christmas decorations
yet to go in the attic and dead batteries due to the lack of
TLC. However, there are some certain ones of us who love to
endure every riding condition due to either our love of riding
or our ridiculous need to prove we can stay vertical and rolling
regardless of frozen hands, nose and toes. Whatever reason you
ride, if you’re out there, I want for everyone to keep the following
winter ride conditions in mind:
WINDCHILL….bundle up and keep the cold wind off of bare
skin. Always carry extra clothing.
TIRE PRESSURE…..Check the air every time you ride.
BATTERY TENDER….use it!
HYDRATION……Drink water or warm liquids. (Alcohol and
riding is highly discouraged!)
STAY AWARE OF WEATHER CHANGES…..a few hours can
make a world of difference in temperature.
MUSCLE MEMORY …….. If you’re not riding every day, your
muscles and reaction time is slower.
SAND AND GRAVEL ……It’s all over the road and especially on
exit and on ramps.
CAGERS …….. the last thing they look for through their barely
scraped iced window is a motorcycle.
Remember these things as you go out on the frozen tundra! I want
to ride with everyone in the new year.
While you’re out there in that garage, get the polishing cloth out
and start shining. February is coming up and that means it’s time
to get your bikes entered in the Jeff Williams Motorcycle Show in
OKC. Check out the ad in this issue. It’s a great show and swap
meet and everyone who’s anyone in OK motorcycling is there!
Happy New Year to All. May we have a healthy, happy and
prosperous year ahead! Start planning your dream ride and plan
it with friends.
