EVENTS OLD TIME SATURDAY NIGHT CELEBRATES 5 YEARS Photos by Reed Reavis and Brad Sewell Article by Kat Boss Pawnee’s annual motorcycle and hot rod cruise in just keeps getting bigger! Held Saturday night, August 2, hundreds of motorcycles, classic cars and jeeps, made the cruise to Pawnee, Oklahoma for the fifth annual Old Time Saturday Night (OTSN). OTSN is like the old days, when people came to town on Saturday and stayed through the evening to visit with friends and talk about whose car was fastest. One night a year, they drag them out of sheds and barns and head to Pawnee, where the shady old brick streets around the square provide the perfect venue for a gearhead get together. Although many of the vehicles weren’t registered, probably because of the rebellious nature of the owners, 191 did register. The drag of Main was extremely well organized this year, so that the entire town was full to overflowing with vehicles of every type. OTSN doesn’t discriminate, as some car shows do, as the motto of OTSN is “if you think it’s cool, we will too!” according to Doc Henderson, coordinator of the event. The music was happening all over with the Rural Route Hippies, a Pawnee band, and Red Dirt Rangers, a well-known Glencoe/Lone Chimney band echoing both ends of town. Both bands play a wide range of country/folk rock/original music. Red Dirt Rangers, one of the founding bands of the Oklahoma red dirt music scene, have more of a bluegrass flavor. Lots of places to eat and the Pawnee Bill Smoke Off was held during the day, and began serving at 6:30 p.m. Visit Old Time Saturday Night on Facebook, give it a like and see awesome bikers and cars from 2014. 34 Thunder Roads Magazine of OK/AR
