We’d Eat Dat! By Jenn Riding into historical downtown Natchitoches with the river on the right and historical shopping on the left it throws your mind back into a time of old cars and big poofy dresses as you ride down brick streets, but hidden at the end of this remarkable historic road is a small pub called Pioneer Pub. Walking in you get a feel of being somewhere in New Orleans rather than just a small pub in historic downtown Natchitoches. We were greeted with a big southern wave from the bartender, and I personally liked being able to sit were we wanted to. We sat in the front by the big windows that overlooked the busy street so that at any glance we could still see the bike as we ate. Greeted by our waitress we ordered The Wookie as an appetizer. The Wookie was a plate filled with homemade French fries topped with brisket and cheese. My tastes buds were amazed by the combination! We had the El Camino Burger and the Philly Cheese Steak both served with a side of homemade fries. What makes this place unique is that just a Block away the owner has a fresh garden were all the vegetables are grown for use in this restaurant. And all the dishes are made from scratch. That’s a trait you don’t see very often anymore with restaurants as they’ve adapted to the fast paced lifestyle of their customers. The ride home was like heaven opened the doors and sent out a sky filled with oranges, pinks, and blues as we rode east into the sunset. A ride I won’t forget. I can say this biker gives The Pioneer Pub an 8 out 10 stars as parking is first come first serve in the front with additional parking in the back due to the temporary work they’re doing to improve your visit to downtown Natchitoches. Clean, quite, family environment. A small pub I’m sure to go back to. Harley-Davidson of Lake Charles Celebrates 45 years!
