PASTORS CORNER
I recently read a statement that has just stuck in my head
day after day. I just can’t seem to get it out of my thoughts.
Here is the statement. “What you are willing to walk away
from determines what God will bring into your life”.
I don’t think this statement is intended for the good
things in our life, but I believe it refers to the things that are
keeping us from being all God has intended us to be. In some
cases it maybe relationships. You know those relationships
which are toxic and do nothing but bring out the worst
within us. It could even refer to bitterness, anger, hard
feelings and even habits or addictions.
I know I have had my share of each to deal with over the
years and even today I battle some. Honestly I know they
don’t have a place in my new life. I know that they weigh
me down and keep me from moving to the next level in my
life. But I find it hard to set them down, turn them loose and
walk away from them.
I am good at setting them down, even turning them
loose. But when it comes to walking away ..... Houston, we
have a problem.

Even though I know they add nothing of value to my life.
I know that I am a better person without them. I want to
leave them behind, but I just can’t seem to find the strength
to do so.
So here is a simple lesson I have learned from riding my
motorcycle. I may have had a bad day and I am tired and
really don’t feel like riding. But if I will just make the effort
to get on my scooter and go one down and five up, all my
issues seem to disappear in my side mirror. In just a few
miles, my whole outlook has changed. The wind blowing on
my face seems to clear my mind of all my troubles. Another
few miles and it seems each turn brings another smile.
I hope I have painted a picture of what God wants to do in
our life. He can’t bring the new in until we walk away from
the old. He can’t fill us with His joy until we walk away from
our sadness. God wants to bless us, but we must be willing
to walk away first.
Father, I pray You give us the strength to walk away
from the things that are holding us back. May Your favor
and blessings overtake us as we start a new journey today.
Amen.
See you in the wind
