National Regulations Are Loosening In discussing national regulations, Vacca emphasizes the effects that politics are now having on the field of compliance. There have been efforts to change components of the ACA, attempts to restructure Medicaid and Medicare, and with healthcare at 18% of GDP spending, it is a target for reducing cost. Vacca explains, “We have to be especially cognizant of what is happening nationally because it is driving the changes in compliance. Everyone knows that regulations in healthcare can be very constricting.
