A Treasure
Students bustle to and from classes across one of
Thornton Academy’s most beloved places—the
Quad. It is also a popular afternoon hangout
spot for chatting with friends. In springtime,
the crabapple trees lining the walkway to the
Main Building provide a bright pop of color.
Their reemergence after a long winter invites an
uplifting stroll under pink petals.
Unfortunately, several of the crabapple trees
were damaged over the past few winters by
storms, especially Hurricane Sandy. In response,
the Class of 2015 generously donated funds to
plant three new crabapple trees. Class gifts are
a way for students to give back to Thornton as
they graduate and become alumni, ensuring that
their legacy lives on long after they turn their
tassels. The Class of 2015 also donated money
for new folding chairs for graduation. We are
proud of the stewardship demonstrated by each
graduating class, and because of the Class of
2015’s thoughtfulness, students and staff will be
able to enjoy the beauty of Thornton’s treasured
trees for many years to come.
The Class of 2015 gives back by
donating trees to their beloved
campus.

“To me, the blossoming trees represented the end of
the school year and graduation. I walked through
those trees each day to go to marching practice.”
