During the practice you achieve complete
concentration by focusing your eyes,
breath, and movement. Physically and mentally, it’s a complete
workout in every way - cardiovascular,
strength, endurance, mental focus,
relaxation.
Ashtanga Yoga is a moving meditation.
You can achieve a state where your mind
is completely shut-off to thought - this is
the best form of stress relief and promotes
calm and mental wellbeing. By following this set series of poses you
can easily see, feel and measure your
progress. Push yourself as hard or as little
as you like, challenge your body in a new
way every day while working completely
at your own pace.
Ashtanga is a moving, flowing sequence -
the feeling of flow just feels so good.
The poses rinse and detoxify your internal
organs and stimulate every part of your
body.
You feel revitalised, relaxed, replenished,
refreshed, restored…. better than a
massage!
Learn to let go of your ego and just ‘Be’ -
content with where you are physically.
No special equipment needed, just a Yoga
mat and a space the size of your mat. You
can practise in any season, any weather -
no need to go out in the cold; a complete
workout in the comfort of your own home.
Sun Salute To Start Your Day Right
The most familiar of Yoga sequence is Surya
Namaskar (Sun Salutation). For thousands
of years, the Hindus have revered the sun,
which they call Surya, as both the physical and
spiritual heart of our world and the creator of
all life itself. One of the means of honouring
the sun is through the dynamic asana
sequence Surya Namaskar.
The best time to do Surya Namaskar is early
morning at sunrise, on an empty stomach.
Once you become familiar, you can connect
your breath and movement to flow smoothly
through the sequence for a wonderful start
to your day, preparing you physically and
mentally.
