Corsair have put together a premium boutique PC that is not only upgradable, but mightily powerful out the box. to the overall experience, just like overclocking this machine. I’ll always tinker and fiddle where possible to improve the working condition of a machine, but I found that the only thing really worth tinkering with on the CORSAIR ONE is the DRAM frequency. You can simply select 2,666MHZ instead of 2,400MHZ and call it a day. You’ll not need any additional voltage (1.2v is fine) and your DRAM timings are going to remain the same but you’ll get a tiny boost in DRAM dependent applications. You could obviously spend days tinkering away, but that is to miss the point of such a machine. It isn’t performance solely that makes the CORSAIR ONE worthwhile, because one could easily spec a similar machine for a lower price. That isn’t the point - the entire premise behind the CORSAIR ONE is that it is a well built, high performance machine, which matches said performance with whisper quiet operation, a compact build, and reliability. It is the machine that you could have in your living room next to your other consoles and it looks appropriate. It’s for those who would love to get into PC gaming, for example, but aren’t interested in having a behemoth of a case with a myriad of LEDs and fans drawing attention to the machine. It’s simply about the experience it delivers and the CORSAIR ONE delivers a solid, premium experience that’s second to none. For that reason alone, the CORSAIR ONE is the ideal premium gaming machine in my eyes. It’s more than the sum of its parts and once you start using it. It becomes hard to use any other machine regardless of how powerful it may or may not be. It isn’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination and it’s certainly for those who have a lot of disposable income. However, if you happen to be one of these individuals, you really can’t go wrong with the CORSAIR ONE. It’s quite an amazing machine, more so than it actually has a right to be. It may not be perfect, but it is as close to perfection as I’ve seen to date. This one is a definite winner and must have. [ The Overclocker ] Issue 42 | 2017 The OverClocker 25
