right handed gamers .
As for gaming on the keyboard , well it is mechanical so it has the obvious advantages of having a nice click feel and sound to it . Coming from MX- Speed switches it took a while to get used to the regular height of the more traditional switch , but something I got over within a few minutes . The switches come in both brown and blue , but they are not from Cherry instead from TTC . They work just as well and exhibit the same behavior as the keys you ’ re familiar with . As such you may choose between a more audible click noise with strong keystroke pressure or the more tactile switch , which should cover most people .
Whichever switch you choose Keyboard flexing is something you might run in to . You do have to apply some force to see it but it is certainly doesn ' t have the structural rigidity of say the STRAFE . It ' s an aspect that could be improved upon with the next issue of the keyboard . Not
a deal breaker but you should be aware of this before deciding to go and spend this much on a gaming keyboard .
Keeping to its minimalistic design ethos , the FX like it ’ s lesser brother lack any USB pass through or removable capable . You may route the capable underneath as there ’ s a track made exclusively for this , however it would have been great to see a detachable capable like some of the compact keyboards from Cooler Master for instance .
Finally , we get to the SWARM software that we are familiar with . As previously stated with other ROCCAT products , the SWARM application is straight forward . It has plenty of functionality but doesn ’ t bludgeon you with it and allows you to set and create MACROS in as few steps as possible . Configuring colour options can be a little tricky , however as there ’ s no colour wheel . In addition to that if you engage “ CAPS LOCK ” or “ NUM LOCK ” or any other key which would normally have a change in light associated with it . The FX simply turns these keys white which will break whatever lighting pattern you ' ve created . Something that can and could certainly be addressed via software as the programmability of the lighting system is a key selling point here .
Ultimately if this is worth the money will be up to you . For the asking price , you ’ ll not find many alternatives that give you the features present here . Some may not be fans of the TTC switches , but in all honesty , they make absolutely no difference and are just as good as the Cherry keys . It isn ’ t a perfect keyboard , but performs its primary function exceptionally well and as such one should be able to overlook any potential short comings it may have . ROCCAT has done well with the Suora FX and made one of , if not the most compelling frameless keyboard around .
