7700K - Conundrum

A funny thing the Internet . Going exclusively by what you may read on forums and message boards . One would be convinced that just about every CPU INTEL has released in the last six years has been underwhelming . In fact , the general consensus for some reason is that , the last truly great CPU from INTEL was the 2600K ( 2700K as well of course ). That is obviously not true , but it may have a lot to do with the ease with which all CPUs reached 5GHz and beyond . It was not possible before and hasn ’ t been possible until now .
One would then think , the CPU closest to that magical 5GHz mark would garner some support or at the very least more enthusiasm than what all previous CPUs after the 2600K had . Oddly enough , and why this editorial exists is simply because that ’ s not the case . Frankly speaking , it ’ s been quite rough for the Kaby-Lake CPUs , with reviews just about everywhere lambasting the 7700K save for a handful of websites and channels which looked at the latest INTEL CPU family with some generosity .
For some reason , we have grown to expect IPC improvements with every generation of CPUs INTEL launches . This was never promised to us as consumers , but I guess since INTEL had been delivering this for years on end and as far back as one can remember , it was sort of expected .
