3866MHz more feasible . As such , if you have a motherboard unable to reach these frequencies , then you could settle for the lower multiplier and effectively lose no performance at all . For those who are for some reason not willing to operate their memory at anything over the specified 1.35V , then your best results and frequency are going to be by far 3733MHz at C17 . The timings aren ’ t impressive at C17 , but that only tells part of the story . It ’ s 17-16-16-36 , which is actually not much worse than what you get at the XMP values of 14-16-16-36 . However , the additional 533MHz more than makes up for the higher CAS Latency . It is worth noting as well , that voltages of up to 1.5V are fine for normal everyday operation and should not damage the memory or system at all . There are those however who would want to exercise
‘ unreasonable ’ levels of caution and if you identify with this group then stick to 1.35V .
It is worth noting as well , that 4GHZ at 1.35V is possible , but the timings are rather poor across the board and you will end up with the same effective performance as you would at 3,466MHz at some more sensible timings ( 16-18-18-36 ). If you do insist on seeing that 4GHz number every time you start up your PC though , this memory kit will achieve this feat with ease , just don ’ t expect matching performance .
CONCLUSION
There ’ s not much that is left to say about this memory . It ’ s beautiful , is in limited quantities and overclocks exceptionally well . Making it by far the best memory kit CORSAIR has ever released for DDR4 , perhaps forever if such a comparison can be made . It is odd that there are no coolers for the memory seeing as it is a fairly premium set , but then again . You ’ d not want to hide these with such contraptions . Of course , CORSAIR sells many more kits that cost more , some which are rated for higher frequencies out the box as well . All of that doesn ’ t make them better kits even with the same ICs . The truth is this kit and others in the limited family are a much higher bin and overclock like mad . The limit will most likely be your CPU or motherboard . CORSAIR has released an exceptional set of memory like no other . A set which - if you ’ re able to purchase - you should order with haste .
