ew franchises are as eternally
relevant in the gaming
consciousness as id Software’s
Doom. Doom means a great deal to
many, many people, and just saying
the name usually evokes a powerful,
nostalgia-fuelled reaction among
those familiar with the series,
specifically the original games
from back in the ‘90s. Personally, I
was first introduced to Doom at an
almost-criminally young age, and
even though it scared the hell out
of Pre-Teen Dane, I immediately
fell in love with it. In other words, I
grew up with Doom, and the sights
and sounds of the 1993 original are
permanently etched in my memory.
It’s practically a childhood friend.
