MAURITIUS
MAURITIUS
With 330 kilometers of Indian Ocean-facing coastline, Mauritius offers
a variety of different spots to suit any level of kitesurfer. Planet
Kitesurf Holiday’s Janine Avery recently took it upon herself to
investigate as much as she possibly could… Here are her highlights:
LE MORNE
Heading down to the kitesurf beach at Le Morne, it became clear that
this little piece of kiting heaven is no longer a hidden gem. Kites
lined the beach, beginners dotted the shoreline and kiter’s families
and friends had set up camp under the shade of the trees. Heading out
with our kites, the wind was blowing cross-onshore at about 20 knots
and we joined the throngs for a fantastic afternoon out on the water.
While beginners attempted water starts, intermediates practiced new
tricks and wave enthusiasts headed out to One Eye to see what all
the fuss was about… The vibe was fantastic, the wind consistent, the
water warm – who could ask for anything more?
Who’s it for?
Le Morne is a wave enthusiast’s paradise. The world-renowned One Eye
attracts expert kitesurfers the world over, while a number of other
waves are perfect for intermediates. You could compare it to a ski
resort – with different waves offering different grades according to
your skill level.
