You want to win me,
Possess me,
But you don't understand
That I am like the sea.
I am so much more
Than I seem on the surface.
I come and go and do as I please.
I am full of oddities,
Unsolvable mysteries.
There is so much that slumbers within me -
Talents and passions and purpose
That I've yet to uncover -
But I am Awake.
I cannot be caged and kept
Like some exotic bird.
I am as wild as the waves
That carved the continents
And I will not be contained, or constrained
By your expectations.
I am the blue-black-grey
That covers the Earth
And I want more
Than the puddle you have to offer.
Awake
