can't rain all the time

By Danielle Nicholson

The weather is nice today.

I'm surrounded by friends,

And everything is going well.

The clouds are fluffy and white,

Cotton balls causing no trouble at all.

The sky is blue now.

But I can't help but worry that it'll turn grey.

I'll always have clouds in my life.

Sometimes they're few in number,

Easy to ignore.

Other times they're dark.

They outnumber the stars,

They turn the sky black,

And I wonder if I'll ever see the sun again.

Sometimes it even rains.

But I have to remember,

It can't rain all the time.

The clouds eventually part,

If only for a brief time,

And I get days like today.

The sun shines past the clouds

And everything is fine.

No matter how hard I try,

I can't control the weather.

I can only remember to bring an umbrella.
