CARLTON WALLACE LINDSAY , BANK CLERK OF NORTH SYDNEY
Enlisted at the age of 21 in March 1916 and was posted to 9th Machine Gun Company 1st Brigade and served in the Rouen area in November 1916 . He was wounded ( gassed ) in Rouen but returned to active service and was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant and then to 2nd Lieutenant in 1917 . He received the 1914 / 15 Star , the British War Medal and Victory Medal .
FREDERICK CHARLES MACKILLOP
Become a Commodore of the Club . His WW1 service was as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 5th Battalion of the British Army in the Duke of Wellington ’ s West Riding Regiment . As with previous persons his British war records are not reasonably accessible .
WALTER M MARKS
Served in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in the Dover Command and on North Sea patrols . As outlined in previous commentary the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was founded in 1903 and many of its personnel were yachtsmen manning armed yachts and launches as well as undertaking other duties .
ARTHUR PERCIVAL SMITH , MECHANICAL MINING ENGINEER OF CAMBERWELL VICTORIA
Joined the AIF in January 1916 at the age of 37 and served as an Engineer in the 1st Australian Tunnelling Company having been promoted to Lieutenant in February 1916 . He was killed in action in France on the 29th June 1916 and is buried in the Bon Jean Cemetery near Armentieres France . Duties of the 1st Australian Tunnelling Company included the placing and maintaining of mines under enemy lines and construction of deep dug-outs for troop accommodation . Mr Smith was posthumously awarded the Memorial Scroll and Plaque , 1914 / 15 Star and British War Medal and Victory Medal .
A VALENTINE SOUL
Served with the YMCA and left with Queensland Troops on the “ ltonus ” for England where he served in the YMCA . He returned to Australia in 1917 via Colombo and received the British War Medal .
JAMES COOPER VINES Served with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve .

HENRY ELPHINSTONE MOORS , AUCTION- EER OF MOSMAN
Listed in the AIF in August 1915 at the age of 26 . He served as a driver having arrived in France in October 1916 . He was wounded on several occasions and admitted to hospital . He died of wounds received in action at Amiens , France in August 1918 and is buried in the Bon Jean Cemetery near Armentieres . His rank at the time of death was 2nd Lieutenant . He was awarded posthumously the Memorial Plaque and Scroll , 1914 / 15 Star , British War Medal and Victory Medal .
WALTER ALLAN ROBERTSON , ACCOUNT- ANT OF BONDI
Joined the AIF in March 1916 at the age of 34 . He was posted to the 9th Field Ambulance Pay Corps . He left Australia for Egypt in March 1917 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1918 . He was mentioned in despatches by General Sir EH Allenby for valuable “ services rendered in connection with military operations in Egypt and Palestine ” and was awarded the Central Chancery of the Order of Knighthood Member of the Military Division . He was also awarded the Victory Medal , 1914 / 15 Star and the Victory Medal .
SYDNEY DAVID WENBORN , COMMERCIAL BROKER OF MOSMAN
Joined the AIF in June 1918 at the age of 39 . He served in Rabaul New Guinea in the Department of the Director of Supplies . He was promoted to Lance Corporal but reverted to the rank of Private at his own request . Mr Wenborn received the 1914 / 15 Star , the British War Medal and Victory Medal
