NYYC INVITATIONAL

THE COMPETITION WAS INTENSE

This year the New York Yacht Club welcomed 17 teams from 11 countries for the week-long event . This is the 2nd Challenge where a team of Club members , Co Skippered by Mark Griffith ( Sydney 38 Old School ) and Bruce Ferguson ( Sydney 38 Whisper ) along with Dave Taylor , Murray Gordon and a crew of Youth Development graduates , will be sailing under the RPAYC burgee at this Corinthian International Event hosted by the New York Yacht Club . 20 Yacht Clubs are represented , racing the evenly matched Swan 42 Class .

The competition was intense . With all international yacht clubs giving it their all . The RPAYC team didn ’ t have the most desired start finishing the first day of racing at the bottom of the ladder .
As the racing went on the team found their rhythm and moved up the ranks of the leader-board . Neighbouring club Middle Harbour Yacht Club was the best Australian team finishing fourth overall .
At the end of the Regatta , it was the team from Royal Thames Yacht Club who won convincingly for the second consecutive year . Runner up went to host club New York Yacht Club .
The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club had a few critical losses which placed them in 13th place . The next event will be held in 2017 .
