Matt Crawford in his Melges 20 “Big Booty” took the win, beating an assortment of sports boats/keelboat which included Vipers and a Young 88. Team Harken skippered by Grant Pellew, managed to find his form on the second and final day of the series. Sitting in 6th place after day one, Grant and his team of Traks Gordon, Ollie Gordon, Natasha Bryant and Clare Costanzo sailed an almost faultless day with a 1,5,1,1,1 score card to take boat of the day for day two, and the series win. Place Total Score Team he inaugural Dustbuster Regatta was launched this season which is suited to the sailor who can’t afford to give up an entire day of their weekend to go sailing. Racing is conducted early morning to utilise the land breeze typical of the Autumn/Winter months with up to four windward leeward races per day. Commenting on the dock shortly after racing, Pellew commented “What a great regatta! The regatta delivered what it promised, great competition and fun windward leeward sprints. It’s great, we had five races today, and now it is 11am and I have the rest of the day to spend time with my family. I think this format in winter has a lot of merit and we look forward to the next regatta.” Also having a better second day on the water was Nancy Ferguson, climbing from 7th place up into 2nd place overall. A big thank you to the volunteer race committee who did a great job setting a track in shifty conditions. CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM HARKEN, WINNING THE DUST BUSTER REGATTA!
