OF ACTIVITIES REPORT
A
ctivities Committee continues to facilitate
members’ engagement with the Club by
delivering a program of events that seek
to appeal to all members.
The Club is a large family with many
areas of interest and the social program handled by the
Activities Committee aims to bring together all of these
diverse interests and build a sense of community.
The Club Social Charter is also enriched by our
support for community programs such as Soldier On and
Sailability under the umbrella of Integrated disAbled
Sailing. This has led to our involvement with the launch
of Invictus Sydney in June this year and will see the Club
taking a major role as the lead sailing organiser for the
actual games in 2018.
This year was rewarding for the Club family with our
esteemed members Jason Waterhouse, Dan Fitzgibbon
and Liesl Tesch representing Australia and winning
Silver at the Rio Olympics and Gold at the Paralympics.
The Club celebrated these achievements with an early
morning start to watch Jason Waterhouse in his Olympic
medal race and after the Olympics/Paralympics, the
memorable Brazilian themed “Welcome Home Party”
was held which appealed to young and old alike.
This is also a good time to reflect and recognise all
of those who make our program possible which includes
Admin staff, members of the Committee and the many
members who volunteer their time to support the Club.

• Annual Golf Challenge
• Melbourne Cup Garden Party
• Vintage Car Rally and Luncheon
• Kids’ Christmas Party
• New Year’s Eve and fireworks party
• Sail Expo
• Mother’s Day lunch
• Zonta International Women’s Day Breakfast

we had in excess
of 5,000 Members
and Guests attend
these Club Activities
over the year and
many more for other
Sesquicentenary
celebration events.
Activities Committee also helped promote the Dicko
Cup and Dangar Island races as part of the “Three
Island Rally” series. Participants included Couta boats
and a number of Cruising Members. Blessed by beautiful
weather all had a great time. These events have now a
place in the 2017/18 sailing calendar.
The remainder of the Club’s Sesquicentenary year
will also bring a whole range of new and established
activities for members to enjoy:
• America’s Cup at the Club
• Clareville Beach Summer Sunday picnics
• Mysteries of Pittwater ferry tour
• Team challenge: Build your own Pizza
The Activities Committee meets once a month in the
E-Bar, usually on a Saturday morning. Any member who
has an idea to bring forward or wishes to see how this
part of the Club life works is most welcome to attend.
