GOLF DAY
RPAYC GOLF CHALLENGE 2015
The annual Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club Golf Challenge was played on Friday 16th October at Bayview Golf Club with 49 members and their guests enjoying a perfect day of golf .
The four ball Ambrose format allowed experienced and not so experienced golfers to compete for the Trophy many prizes on an equal footing .
Registration together with a breakfast of tea / coffee / juice , bacon and egg roll for all from 8 o ’ clock . The course was in excellent condition and presented a great challenge for the day .
All teams started from the 1st and 12th tee , and headed off round the course . After three and a half hours of play the players gathered in the clubhouse at 1.30 for a great lunch with a few drinks and the prize giving .
An array of rum , champagne , wine , golf gear and golf balls awaited the winners .
The Overall Winners on the day were Team Pacesetter , David Booth , Tony Doyle , John Wenborne , and John Young , with a gross score of 65 and a Nett 54.125 including six birdies .
Second overall was Team Second Time Around , John McConaghy , Di McConaghy , Jan Croll , and Dave Lovell , with a gross 67 and Nett 54.625 .
Third overall was The Sons of Tiwas , Tony Fox , Steven Smith , David Clark and Len Baillie , with a gross 72 and a Nett 57.125 .
The best all women ’ s team was Team Wild Oats XI , Val Oatley , Alvia Buckle , Jill Winter and Marlene McKewen with a gross 80 and a Nett 65.375 .
The longest drive challenge went to John Young for the men and Di McConaghy for the women . Nearest the pin on the 8TH hole went to David Booth and Lou Bell .
Best dressed team went to Team Second Time Around , decked out in yellow and white , very smart .
The Bradman prize went to Team Kilavolt , Nick Crombie , Brian Gray , Bob Tubman , and Bob Hamilton . Better luck next year boys .
A big thanks to the Pro shop for getting everyone away hassle free , and all the staff at Bayview for the service provided during the day . Well done all and hope to see you next year for the RPAYC Golf Challenge .
