About: Sailed Manly Juniors and Flying 11s at Avalon Sailing Club. Began YD in 2016 and Match Racing and more large boat sailing. About: Grew up sailing Hobie 16s and 14s out of Palm Beach Sailing Club. Currently sails Elliott 7s, 5.5s, MC38’s, Lasers, Kerr 40’s and on Whisper. Joined the Etchells squad and organises offshore youth sailing on Le Billet. About: Sailed Manly Juniors and Flying 11s out of Avalon Sailing Club and 29ers and Match Racing, as well as teams racing with school and sailing offshore in bigger boats from the RPAYC. About: Sailed Manly Juniors, Flying 11’s, Pacers (School Teams Racing), 29ers and Match Racing in the Elliott 7’s Future Aims: Finish apprenticeship and compete in a range of classes and international events. Future Aims: To crew for the match racing or Volvo and compete in high level international regattas, improvement in knowledge of Match Racing rules. Future Aims: Etchells Worlds through the RPAYC Youth Etchells program, sail competitive super yachts and compete in the Women’s International Match Racing Series. Future Aims: To represent Australia at the highest level of Match Racing and continue to improve racing strategy and skills. Future Aims: To improve racing skills and be able to compete at a higher and more competitive level. Tom Spithill – Age 29 Head Coach About: Tom’s long connection the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club spans back to when he started sailing Manly Juniors at age three on the Centreboard lawn. Tom is a five time graduate of the Youth Development Program and has now been coaching the squad for the past eight years. Emma May - Age: 21 Student About: Sailing since she was 8 years old, on Cherubs, Flying 11s and Sabots at LCSC, the past four years her focus has been offshore and match racing, doing bow on a Sydney 47 for CYCA Bluewater races, including Sydney Hobart Race 2014-16. She is currently trimming in the YD program. YOUTH DEVE Future aims: The Volvo Ocean Race and one design fleet racing. Alexander Bijerk – Age 15 Nathan Weiss – Age 15 Vincent Willman – Age 16 Cameron Whiteside – Age 17 Harley Walters – Age 19 Student Student Student School Student/Carpenter. About: Sailing optimists and Laser 4.7s from the RPAYC and began YD in 2017. About: Sailing for a number of years from Palm Beach sailing Club as well as the RPAYC. About: Sailed in MJ’s, Flying 11’s, 29ers, Elliott 7s and a little bit of pacers. About: Sailed on optimists, lasers and now Elliott’s out of RPAYC. Had a great experience through all youth dinghy regattas and hopefully will achieve the same memories of YD as well. About: Sailed 29ers, Melges 24s and 16 foot skiffs. Future Aims: To compete at an elite level and finish school. 60 YACHTSMAN Future Aims: To represent at an elite level in sailing and finish school. Future Aims: To sail competitively in yachts and possibly skiffs as well as represent the RPAYC at future regattas. Future Aims: To improve or build upon Match Racing, regattas and have a good time. Future Aims: To have a better understanding of the rules of Match Racing and to sail at more international regattas.
