Many new activities and a large numbers of guests
made Homecoming Weekend memorable. On Friday,
events and games were held for students to promote
bonding and fun. New this year were the popular
bubble soccer and a bonfire.
Saturday, the varsity soccer team beat the alumni
team on penalty kicks after a 3-3 tie. In the foot-
ball game, the Mechanics beat the DC Metro
Wolves 20-14, ensuring the first winning season since 1996. Other events included a Brick
Shop Challenge, Archive display, Academic
Reception, and Family Fun Zone. The Student
Lounge was dedicated (see p. 5) and the athletic scoreboard donated by the Alumni As-
sociation was dedicated during the football game’s
halftime (see p. 5).
That evening reunions were held at Barnaby’s in
Aston for the Classes of 5W5, 6W0, 6W5, 7W0, 7W5,
8W0, 8W5, 9W0, 9W5, 0W0, 0W5, and 1W0.
The weekend closed Sunday morning with the
Alumni Association’s 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk.
