own news. Our family is expanding as both
of my sons’ wives are expecting. We will
be adding two more boys, one in September and one in October. That makes seven
grandkids and Debbie is staying very busy
helping out with the grandkids and loving
every minute of it.
The other supervisor in my department
retired in March so they decided to make
me the boss. I have a great staff so I guess
I will hang around a few more years. We
have a Williamson graduate who is teaching
the carpentry program at one of our high
schools and he worked for me this summer. He is a hard working young man who
defines what a Williamson Man is, and will
become a great instructor for the district. I
have had a lot of people work for me over
the years, and it is a pleasure to see that Williamson is still turning out young men with
a great work ethic.
I hope everyone is doing OK. We are getting up there in years and retirement is right
around the corner for us. Our 50th class
reunion is also right around the corner and
the fund-raising program for our class gift
to school is under way and needs all of our
support. Please try and help out with whatever you can.
When you finish reading this, how about
shooting me an email and giving me some
news for the Winter class notes. It only takes
a few minutes and I would enjoy sharing
your news with the class, so go ahead pick
up your smart phone, and let me know how
you are doing.

Gents,
I hope everyone had a happy and healthy
Christmas and New Year. My first day back
at Shell today after a nice two-week holiday
vacation, and I am trying to motivate myself
for one last year of work before I ride off into
the sunset. I suspect many of the Class of
7W4 will be joining me. During these years
of retirement, my hope is that our class will
have more time to reconnect and strengthen
our bond and brotherhood. On that note,
there has been some talk about having a
get-together at Hags this summer, not a formal reunion, but a chance to hang out for
a day/weekend and let our hair down. If
you’re interested in something like this, let
me know…even if we just get a handful of
guys it would be worth doing, and Hag has
already agreed to open up his place for the
event.
From Hag: Been a good year Scrounge,
and a couple classmates visited. Custer was
up in August in work mode, and we finished
off a wood storage shed at my son Brett’s
place. I put in an outdoor furnace there, and
the shed holds 7-8 cords of firewood to feed
the furnace during the winter. Good thing
Brett was there to help — at times it was
pretty comical watching two old Willy guys
trying to navigate a 9/12 steel roof. Having a
young “fetch it” on site kept us from keeling
over. Kudos to Custer — he showed up with
his new box truck/van and was tricked out
with all kinds of tools and what we lacked
in physical prowess we made up for with
school of hard knocks experience. The furnace/shed is a great setup — all the mess
stays outside and the handling of firewood
is reduced by two thirds. Stew came up this
fall for turkey hoping to match his success
during his spring gobbler visit, but it wasn’t
in the cards this time. And while Stew might
have gone home empty handed, we sure
didn’t — he left us some real tasty venison
sausage, and (a first for me) venison liverwurst. That liverwurst vanished as soon as
it was opened. The man sure knows how to
take apart a deer. Thanks Stew-man.
Not sure what happened to winter this
year. After the last two, I went crazy and put
up enough firewood to be a full year ahead,
and if the weather doesn’t change soon, it
looks like there may be enough to last me
three more years. Finally, if the “7W4 midterm reunion party” is still on the list for discussion, count me in. I’d definitely be up for
it, and would be happy to host it up here at
the cabin. I [
