Christmas card was a picture of three of
his grandchildren helping their grandfather
stack firewood for the winter. Dan continues to be kept very busy “babysitting” three
days a week and loving every minute of it. To
hear him talk about his grandchildren…he’s
a very proud and blessed Pop-pop.
Dan and I usually talk a day or so into deer
season after Thanksgiving with often good
news…this year not so good news. No buck
this year. Before the winter gets too bad
we’re hoping to meet halfway in Selinsgrove
for dinner.
Marsha and I stopped to see Mike and
Deborah Noll on our way back from a doctor’s visit at Geisinger, a month or so back.
They are doing well. They took us down the
road to see a project they were working on.
They own a 6-unit apartment house in Danville that they are working on themselves.
They are completely doing over one of the
units, top to bottom, wiring, drywall, new
kitchen, new bathroom, AC, etc., and they
are doing a beautiful job. Now there’s a power plant guy that would make the building
trades proud.
Fred and Carol Espenship are alive and
well and settling in for “a long winters nap.”
Fred said it was -8, going up to -2 the other
day, but his pictures are beautiful…snow
scenes with bull elk, black bear, and mountain lion, all very close to home.
The Espenships also enjoyed a two-week
Mediterranean Viking cruise in October.
And on top of all that, Fred traded in his
Porsche for a beautiful Corvette, (hunter
green with a leather tan interior). Trade
school has been good to all of us…amen!
Wayne and Arlene Benovitz have also
kept in touch and we’ve talked several times.
They are well and have come through all the
Texas rains with no damage to their home or
boat. We wish we lived closer, as we do with
all of you. The Willy stories keep coming!
Dan and Lois Norton have also had a busy
year. Along with our 6W5 50th reunion they
also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On Sunday, June 14, their church and
family surprised them with a 50th anniversary celebration after the church service. The
next morning, they headed out for what was
to be a 2-week vacation, traveling the Great
Lakes Seaway Trail across Pennsylvania and
New York. Two days into the trip Lois experienced severe sciatica that landed her in the
ER, then forcing them to head home. After
dealing with this on and off for 20 years, surgery was the next logical step. On Aug. 10
she had back surgery followed up by several
months of recovery. In November, Dan and
Lois were each diagnosed with Lyme disease
a week apart. They are both recovering and
still praising God through ][B
