ers, Kellers, Smiths, Hibbs, Rileys, Fridays,
Getzs, Mummerts, and a freshman, Jim and
Pat Day 6W2. It’s always great to hear and
receive greetings from classmates.
Recently I was privileged to be invited to
a 5W4 class gathering and luncheon at Dave
(5W4) Schrenk’s home. My good friend
Ron Richardson 5W4 has been very gracious in keeping me included in their class
get-togethers. There were a few other classes
represented too and we all had a great time,
sharing our stories. Dave Schrenk is a very
generous host treating us all to lunch.
In the fall, Peter Feusner and I attended
a luncheon at Shady Maple. Bruce Burrell
5W4 has for many years hosted a class gettogether. Well, it seems it has grown and
presently there is participation from over 10
classes. It’s a great social event of Williamson
men and some wives. More recently in the
spring we meet at school for a great lunch
and a related program.
Leah is an active member of the Williamson Ladies Auxiliary. As you may recall, they perform many functions and raise
monies for our students. Recently held was
the Christmas Bazaar, and annual sold-out
event each year. Crafts and sale items are
displayed for purchase and a very nice luncheon is provided. The Auxiliary presented a
check to the school for $9,000.00 Along with
Leah and me, Carroll Mummert attended.
He donated a craft he created.
This past fall I served on a committee
to select the new VP for education at Williamson. Beginning next week, I along with
a committee, will be selecting our new
masonry instructor. After 18 years and an
amazing career, Dan Hiltebeitel will be retiring this May. I have previously served in the
selection of the last three masonry instructors. Hopefully, we can continue the practice
of excellent candidate selections.
Next week I will be serving, along with
Chairman Bob Abbot 8W0 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award Committee. The
committee is always looking for nominations. If you have a nomination, forward it
to William Goodworth, 8W1 c/o the school.
Later this month I will be chairing the annual meeting and selection of the Alumnus of
the Year Award. Your nominations for next
year can be forward to me.
Our Alumni Association is again conducting its Spring Fund-raiser. I recently sent an
E/M describing it and how to purchase a
$10.00 ticket to most of you. The efforts of
this fundraiser primarily support the benefits we provide to the students. Your contribution provides the help needed to be successful. The drawing dates are through the
entire month of April. Contact Chairman
Stacy Starr 6W8 or myself for purchases.
March 31 is the deadline for purchases.
Last year’s Alumni Association president,
Bob Abbot 8W0 started a Monday Night
Football Pizza Party for the students. About
$200.00 is needed to fund each Monday
night. Recently the Alumni Association
funded the last Monday night of this season.
If you or several of you are interested in providing for one night, contact the Bob Abbot
at school.
Leah and I continue to attend most school
functions. From time to time a few of you
are also represented. I look forward in seeing more of you local guys at these events.
Coming up next is Founder’s Day on Feb. 4.
However, looking ahead, don’t forget Alumni Day on Saturday, June 4, 2016. In addition, the Alumni Banquet is that evening. I
have attended every Alumni Day since 1958.
I look forward to seeing many of you there
again this year.
In closing, I want to say, I really appreci-
ate the continued support each of you bring
to our class. Without each of you and your
class commitment we would never have enjoyed the success we have shared over these
many years. Please keep in touch with your
news throughout the year. I continue to encourage you to join and support our Alumni
Association. Your continued membership
helps provide support for the efforts we have
for the students.
