What was involved in building
her?
It took approximately fifteen
months to complete. Mainly
weekend work and after hours,
but because we enjoyed it so much
it was really no effort at all. Lily
is constructed on a trailer and
is clad with western red cedar.
Everything in Lily has been hand
built, customised and crafted by
ourselves. Glenn, my husband is
a builder by trade, so that helped!
Lead lighting, blacksmithing,
metalwork, painting, scrollwork,
moulding, was all done by us.
What do you love most about
Lily?
Oh, I just love everything about her.
We really didn’t think she would
turn out as beautifully as she has.
We tried to ‘age’ her to make her a
little more realistic. Once you step
inside the door, you really do leave
life outside. There is an incredible
ambience – romantic, old worldly,
mysterious. I love the antique
chandelier, the wagon wheel and
horse leadlights. Oh, I really can’t
pick one thing!
Every time I open the shed and see
Lily, her presence quite amazes me.
I really can’t believe I have my own
gypsy caravan. To my husband – I
say the biggest thank you!
