C losing means coming to an end. There have been lessons learned, and knowledge gained. This has definitely been an interesting year.

We are coming to our first magazine anniversary, and it has been a journey. I have worked with some talented and wonderful people, who have taken a chance to share in this vision, and although some started full of fire, I appreciate every ounce of support. I couldn't have done this magazine without help. I have grown as an editor as well as a virtual assistant.

Although it isn't our anniversary yet, it is the close of 2016. This year went by like a whiz! From January to now December, our buinesses have gone through a shift and we have gained new clients, learned new techniques and developed new relationships.

In this issue, we are going to put on your mind some benchmarks of closing out your business year. Even if you're just starting out, there are still some checklist items that you can implement to close out 2016 to start fresh in 2017.

We will also feature some encouragement on how to get started for the new year on the right foot. Starting and maintaining a business is never easy, but with the right resources and tools, you can do it. Without getting into too much right now, even this publication will go through an overhaul to provide more resources for you to grow and stay motivated as a virtual assistant.

Be encouraged if you had a rocky start. This is just the beginning, and sometimes you have to close out old ideas to birth new life into your business. Hold fast to your "why". In this business, it means everything. It is your life presever during the down seasons and the days when everything - including your personal life goes haywire. Take the lessons that you learned from the mistakes you made this year, and turn them into energy to start anew.

Shift your point of view. 2016 is gone away, and 2017 is coming in. Look forward to new opportunities, and don't be afraid to visit opportunities that you misstepped in 2016, make sure you close every business door that deserves to be closed. Don't allow the fear, mistakes, and old way of thinking be baggage in your virtual suitcase that you drag into 2017. Close it out! Finish the chapter to operate on a clean slate! You and your business deserves a fresh point of view.
