SpringRidge Court Residents Work on Large Painting for Dining Room
Sharon Evers' mother moved
into SpringRidge Court in July,
and that's when Sharon got the
idea for a piece of artwork made
by residents to hang over the
fireplace in the building's dining
room.
Cindy Foster, one of the facility's programs assistants, thought
it was a great idea.
Sharon works on these types
of projects all the time with her
work, and she jumped right in
getting as many residents as possible involved.
The project lasted about three
months, with sessions every other
week. A group determined what
should be in the painting. Memory care residents painted the background. Then, assisted living residents put in more detailed work.
On the day of the unveiling, the
residents were excited. They're
still sharing with their families the
parts that they worked on.
"It's rewarding, and they loved
to come every time we had a session," said Diane Newlin, programs assistant.
"We appreciate Sharon for everything she put into this spectacular project for the residents,"
Foster said.
