Page 6 February 2014 Boys and Girls Aid Boys and Girls Aid President Farol Kahle Our Boys and Girls Aid (BGA) main fundraiser for the year happens at the 11th Annual Crab and Rib Dinner on Saturday, March 8. Doors open at 5:30 pm and dinner is served at 7 pm. The dinner features the ultra-fresh crab brought in from the coast that day; ribs from Lamb’s Thriftway; potato salad, baked beans and cole slaw from Reser’s; a tossed green salad from Curry’s and bread and ice cream cups. Good quality wine will be available to buy for $5/ glass, various beers for $3 and ther e will be free sodas. Our BGA members are in the process of soliciting a variety of silent auction items and balloon items for patrons who will attend the event. Balloons sell for $10 each and are worth up to $25. There will be a silent auction with items and services ranging from $25 in value up to a oneweek rental of a Kauai condo. The “paddle raise” is offered for those of us who have no need for more “stuff,” but would like to support our programs with a donation of $25, $50, $75 or $100. These donations are 100 percent tax-deductible. Rebecca will also be at the February Kathy Gibbons 21 luncheon for cash and check purchases. Co-Chair Kathy Gibbons Kathy Gibbons was born and grew up in Eastern Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University (OSU). She taught in the elementary schools in Beaverton and currently substitutes and does testing for the district. She and her husband, Jim, have been married for 43 years and have lived in Charbonneau for 14 years. They have two daughters and six grandchildren. Kathy enjoys golf, tennis, gardening, travel, reading and biking. She has belonged to CWA, Niners, BGA and The Sunshine Committee. She joined Cypress Aux- iliary because she had two friends who worked for the agency and she is committed to the mission of the agency to help at-risk youth in our community. She is currently chairing the committee for the Pettygrove House dinners and co-chairing the Crab & Rib dinner with Jan Bliss. Kathy and Jan met at OSU and were sorority sisters, so they’ve been friends for a long time. February 21 Luncheon The regular monthly luncheon of the Cypress Auxiliary will be Friday, February 21 at 11:30 am at SpringRidge. Members will be fine-tuning arrangements for the Crab & Rib Dinner.
