CGC Report The CGC Board has been approached by the new investors of the long-empty restaurant. The conversations centered on the Golf Club and restaurant operators co-opting activities relative to outside events, weddings and tournaments. This likely would benefit both organizations and would draw many more people into the community. This, Charbonneau Golf Club President JIM GIBBONS Happy valentine’s month. All of us live in such a wonderful community. Your support of the Golf Club is so very much appreciated. The winter Pro Shop merchandise sales have been successful. Many of you have taken the opportunity to save with an early purchase of the Charbonneau 2014 Golf package. Your business is important to the Golf Club, and we offer a big “Thank you.” There are still sales in the Pro Shop, and 2014 Golf packages are still a good value. Stop in and check things out. The Golf Club Board has been considering ways to operate more effectively in an often changing golfing environment. As such, it is a pleasure to inform you that, as of January, our Head Golf Professional, Chris Bensel, has also taken on the added responsibility of Operations Manager for the Charbonneau Golf Club. This is a new position that specifically meets our particular needs. Our part-time general manager, Alan Arsenault, wishes to step away and enjoy retirement activities. He will continue to help with advice on matters that deal with the Water Company. Chris has worked as the Charbonneau head golf professional since May of 2007. His friendly approach to all golfers and his knowledge of the game has earned him great respect. Chris has been involved with increasing our marketing efforts and attempting to provide every golfer playing Charbonneau Golf Course an experience that is enjoyable. Chris is “excited to continue moving forward with projects for the golf course.” His talent and background will do him well as he oversees the operations of the golf facility and the Water Company. A new activity for the Golf Club this coming season will be using a portion of the course as a site for wedding ceremonies. Charbonneau resident Lindy Anderson will be overseeing all aspects of wedding events. She worked at the Mallory Hotel and was involved with weddings and other special events. Lindy will also help with planning outside corporate tournaments and charity events. A redesign of the Golf Course website is underway as new capabilities to serve all our residents and customers become available. The project is being carried out by Elaine Swyt of Mediaphysics in conjunction with input from a committee of involved users. Plans are for the site to be up by April 1. in turn, would benefit other existing businesses here and would likely increase the prospects for future residents. All-in-all, it appears to be a “win-win” solution for all parties. My best valentine wishes to all of you.
