The Charbonneau Villager Letters to the Editor To the Editor: I think most Charbonneau residents would agree we live in a community unmatched by any other. Charbonneau is special - considering the geographic location, its easy access to the Oregon coast, the mountains and the desert. We're close to two metropolitan hubs, Portland to the north and Salem to the south. We have convenient access to California and Washington via I-5. Then, considering Charbonneau itself . . . there is the Country Club which residents can engage in various activities - events for men and women, we have a great little fitness center to help us stay in shape, we have a public golf course for exercise and entertainment, we have tennis and restaurants. I could go on and on. Most of us have either read or heard of the classic book Treasure Island. It seems to me, that Charbonneau with its treasures be classified as a “treasure island,” too.
