Explore and take advantage of all this vibrant community has to offer. visit the Clubhouse and our dedicated staff will be happy to answer your questions and point you in the right direction. You, too, will soon feel that Charbonneau is home. Joan Buccino, Landscape Committee Chair On the cusp of my eighth year here in Charbonneau, there are many things I love about the community; and it all has to do with people and involvement. Initially, I loved my home - it’s just the perfect size and floor plan for my husband, Tim, and me; and living on the golf course in this beautiful, resort-like haven couldn’t be more special. As a new resident, I became involved in my HOA and, from there, have been active in the Charbonneau Women’s Association, the Niners and now the CCC board. The most fun and rewarding aspect of it all is working with others to plan and participate in events, meet challenges and resolve problems. It’s exciting to be in the company of caring and interested individuals and to be at the forefront of change. Here, people are sincere, positive, friendly, active, happy and have a zest for life. What’s not to love! Kathy Fuller, House Committee Chair Susanna and I bought a home in Charbonneau in 1990, prior to moving from California to Pakistan, in order to stay in the U.S. housing market while overseas. We rented it out for 11 years before retiring to Charbonneau in 2001. Having moved so many times in our married life, we had very few roots. So, we chose the Portland metro area for our future home to be close to one of our daughters and her family. We chose Charbonneau because it seemed to offer so many activities and, because of that, the opportunity for newcomers to meet new friends, as compared to the prospect of being a stranger on an ordinary street, in any other city in the area. It turned out to be a great choice; and the bonus, that we were unaware of at the time, is that we are part of Wilsonville, a well-managed city with a history of balancing smart growth with livability. We love it and consider ourselves so very lucky! Tony Holt, Civic Affairs Committee Chair It is the community of friends that makes this such a special place. My wife, Cherie, and I love the beauty, the ambiance, the golf course and the ducks (not the geese, so much)! The opportunities to give back and the abundance of activities make life healthier and happier. Most importantly, we have made lifetime connections that we care deeply about. We won't leave here until we are literally "in a box" . . . if we are lucky, that will be after we enjoy SpringRidge and their great food! Dave Sanville, Communications Committee Chair The greatest things about Charbonneau are: first, the people who are committed to making this the best community ever . . . the volunteers who spend many hours of their time devoted to helping all of the organizations run smoothly. Next, it is the beauty of Charbonneau itself: the tree-lined streets, the immaculate landscaping throughout, the architecture of the houses and the beautiful golf course. Best of all is the changing of the four seasons, each with their special beauty. One of my favorite activities is going on walks with my wife, Faye, admiring everything Charbonneau has to offer. Since this is valentine’s month, I have a poem for my wife of 45 years: “Roses are Red, violets are Blue, Our love is still fresh, Like the morning dew.” And, a poem for everyone: “Roses are red, violets are blue, Please don’t kiss me, If you have the flu.” Happy Valentine’s Day. Larry Turner, Asset Management Committee Chair Want to Join the Charbonneau/OGA Women's 2014 Interclub Team? In response to many discussions with women around the state, the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) is launching an OGA Women’s Interclub Play in 2014. This Interclub Play is something new and exciting for women only. The plan will be to open the first year as a pilot program before introducing it statewide. It will be rolled out in two phases. First phase will be introduced to twelve clubs in the Portland Metro area. Keeping it fairly small the first year will allow the OGA to make the necessary changes before expanding statewide in 2015. Charbonneau Golf Club women have been invited to be one of the first-phase clubs. OGA will begin taking signups from the area golf clubs around March 1, with an initial kick-off meeting for the Team Captains to be held (approximately) on April 1. OGA had not worked out all the details of this new venture; it should all be clarified at the April 1 meeting. The season will consist of a total of five matches, beginning in May and going through September - with one match to be played each month. The final seasonending tournament will be held in late September, with all women who have played at least one of www.charbonneaucountryclub.com the five matches invited to participate in the final shotgun and party. We think it will be great fun. Six players will represent Charbonneau in the once-a-month shotgun matches scheduled by OGA at different golf courses in our area. Any CWGA member is invited to sign up to be on our Club Team, regardless of your handicap. The players we send to each monthly match will come from the Team roster and the lineup may change from month-tomonth. CWGA has agreed to pay the entry fee for our team. Now, we just need to find 12 committed players to comprise our team. Some of the details are: No restrictions on handicaps, the play format will be four ball matches, the matches will be played at five different courses and individual team members that play in a match will pay green fees of $35, plus $5 a game for prize money. Our Team will consist of six players and six substitutes.
