Students with at least 2 As and 2 Bs and Es and Gs in conduct were reco gnized fo r this outstanding award. Above, new members repeat the Junior Beta Club Pledge. Fifty-two Fifth Grade students were selected for this honor based on their academic and conduct records. Guest Speaker Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell encouraged the inductees to thank their parents, always keep learning, and to be role models to other students. During his remarks, Mayor Luttrell asks new Beta Club inductees to give their parents a round of applause and thank them for their support. At the close of the ceremony, AES Principal Gina Gore surprised Mayor Luttrell with his own induction into the Junior Beta Club (right). “My mother would be so proud,” Luttrell said. SCHOOL NEWS Splish Splash Fourth graders at A r l i n g t o n Elementary aren’t letting this cold weather keep them from enjoying Study Island. Study Island is a program offers reinforcement of grade level skills and educational games. Fourth grade students have been swimming in an “o ce a n o f knowledge” as they earn ribbons by passing these skills. Students Stryker Aitken, Jaci Renfrow, and Rafael Garcia pictured below hold some of the highest blue ribbon totals. Students Enjoy “Teacher Time” Thanks to AES Benefit Auction Sullivan, and Bethany display the artwork they made with Mrs Bertling and Mrs. Jones. AES Gives Back to with Angel AES teachers supported the Benefit Tree Project Auction by each donating a Teacher Time activity of their choice to the top bidder. The activities ranged from making a music video to launching a rocket. Below, Lily, Lila Jalasha, Ethan, Donations from AES students and families for the annual Angel Tree project provided Christmas gifts for 43 children ranging in age from three weeks to 18 years old.
