After the raid, which occurred at roughly 12:20 am, 89 lay dead inside of the Bataclan. Even though the attacks temporarily silenced the city, the next day, hundreds of Parisians gathered, together, throughout the city to remember those whose innocent lives were taken the day before. That same day, ISIS claimed full responsibility for the attacks and many of the attackers, who at the time were at large, attempted to escape France.

Many of the survivors were interviewed by radio stations, TV stations and even police. One of the survivors, Denis Plaud, told reporters, “There was blood everywhere. Even people alive were covered in blood.” He said that some who were alive and completely healthy, “…had to stay for several hours among dead corpse[s] and they went out covered with blood.” Some were said to have played dead or buried themselves in dead bodies to try and stay hidden from the shooters. But, in the end, there were those who couldn’t hide or save themselves, and at least 130 other lives ended on an infamous night in the City of Love.
