and suddenly everything is silent.

Peace and serenity fills your mind

But it doesn’t last long.

A peaceful hum at first

Then a whisper,

And now a full-fledged shouting!

You can't think!

You can't sleep!

He sits in the corner of your mind,

Critiquing your every move.

Any decision you make will be wrong

so why bother trying?

You fidget

All you can think about is how to be better

How not to fail

Pretty soon the perfectionist is running your life.

The parasitic vermin seems to

Feed on your ideas,

Picking them apart until all that's left is trash.

He screams that you're worthless

That you are going to fail

Every second of every day,

Is spent trying to please him.
