Presidential Candidates

A few months ago, back in November 2016, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton competed for the office of president of the United States. Most people do not know a lot about these two interesting politicians and how they both come from very different backgrounds. In fact, both have done numerous things before they ran for president in 2016.

Hillary Rodham was born on October 26, 1947. Then, in 1962 when she was 15, she went with her youth group to hear and meet Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.. In 1965, she attended an all-women's school named Wellesley, then attended Yale in 1969. One year later, she moved into a house with a fellow Yale student, and her future husband, Bill Clinton.

Hillary’s first major political experience was in 1972 when she worked on Senator George McGovern's presidential campaign. Clinton received her Juris doctor degree from Yale in 1973, and four years later, she was appointed to the Board of Legal Services Corp. Prior to her appointment, she married then Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton.

Hillary’s career in Washington began in 1993, when she became first lady to president Bill Clinton. In 2000, she was elected as a New York Senator. As Senator, she sponsored 363 bills, where 11 were successfully enacted. One of her most prominent votes, was her vote of yes on the Iraq Resolution, which authorized military action in Iraq. Then, in 2007, Hillary announced her candidacy for the president of the United States for the first time. Although she lost to Barack Obama in 2008, she was nominated to be the 67th Secretary of State for President Obama. As Secretary of State, she visited Haiti in 2010 to help after the very devastating earthquake, and testified about the
