6:30 a.m. and you're on my mind
I whisper your name in the mirror
as I comb my hair
6:52 and I'm picking out my clothes for today
Trying to look my best
so maybe you'll notice me
like you used to
7:17 and I'm waiting outside
in the pale sunlight of the morning
and the cool autumn breeze
I anticipate seeing you at school
and shivers run over my arms
9:31 and I finally see you for the first time today
You catch my eye
as we walk past each other
I swear I saw you smile
for a fraction of a second
I say hello
and you politely say it back
This tiny bit of attention inflates in my mind
It's nothing, really
But I grasp onto the little nothing of it
and it means the world to me
12:08 and I eat lunch with my friends
I strain to catch a glimpse of you
and when I do my breathing quickens It's been so long since we were anything real
Now all I have are small glimmers of hope
Hope that maybe one day you'll realize that I'm still here
That I still care
All The Time
