Space and Time

By Ella K-L

The lovely maiden of space

With galaxies

Flowing down her back,

Wearing a dress of black crystal

And a cape sewn of stars

We could only hope

To discover

The paths and winding roads

That she follows

With ease

The mighty knight of time

Clothed in a cape embroidered with

Strands of seconds,

Minutes,

And hours

With authority he strides,

Warping to past and future,

Holding streams of a dimension

We can only fathom of

Glimpsing

The Lady Space

And the Lord Time

Meet where stars swirl,

Where time collapses,

And space unfurls In a dream,

They drift towards each other,

Hands outstretched and

Longing to meet

For the first time in an eternity

But stars converge between them

And they stop,

Forgetting the other

And turning away

From their destiny

Leaving, then waking,

Only to remember

And once again begin

The search

For the other

Perfection

Perfection is

The first step

My first impression

on the audience

It’s up to me now

No longer can I rely on the support

and

guidance of others

The fate of this dance lies in my

hands

Perfection is

The love and dedication that goes

into making each step tell a story

Unfolding into a sequence of events.

Perfection is

The time spent in the studio each day

Polishing the details of each emotion

in the dance

Perfection is

The chain that connects me to my

audience

That binds me to the world

Perfection is

The brick wall

In which each step is a brick

Cemented together by burning

passion

Each brick is essential to keep the

wall together

But what would happen if one step,

just one step

was removed from the dance?

When the brick wall collapses?

Children in the first row of the

theater gossip out of boredom

Their parents find text messages

more interesting than the show

Little babies wail for their mothers to

take them outside

None of this is perfection

Perfection is

More than just executing each step

correctly

The story that the audience

takes away from each performance

Means more to them than an

emotionless dance

Perfection is

The result of love, sweat, passion,

and dedication

Coming together in harmony

Each piece fitting into the puzzle

Each brick fitting into the wall

Perfection is

What each dancer strives for

Without it, dance has no meaning

Perfection is

What keeps the audience in their

seats

It is what makes the dance

captivating

Dance and perfection go

Hand in hand

Without one, the other is incomplete

When you strike the perfect balance

between love, sweat, passion, and

dedication

Then, and only then

You have achieved

Perfection
