When reporting on this division of the Foundation, it is perhaps necessary that one
looks back into the history. The ECD centre which opened in 2008, was instrumental
to the founding of the Foundation in 2009. The first major need with a pressing
urgency, was an ECD facility and from there an awareness of all the other needs in the
community grew.
103 children between 2 ½ and 5 years old, which is the full capacity of the centre,
enjoyed a stimulating and fun curriculum every day, presented by eight dedicated
teachers; and were presented with 2 ½ meals per day prepared by two kitchen staff.

As the numbers grow, the knowledge and awareness increase and the quality of
education grows – so much so that two teachers from the Lammeroes ECD were
amongst the 2015 top three best ECD practitioners selected in the Western Cape.
