The Valleys and Mountains Development Foundation Annual Report 2015 - | Page 26
Due to the successes of the drama group and the community’s interest in what their children
were achieving, the Foundation decided that we should bring the theatre on to the grounds
where all the programmes are offered.
This big project kicked off when Parmalat donated two hundred pallets to the Foundation to
incorporate into the structure. More sponsors came on board and we managed to finish the
theatre in record time. The students were all willing to do their part in getting their own
private theatre built.
Over the past year this theatre really became an integral part of the Early Childhood
Development operations where a variety of activities take place. The theatre gives shelter
against all the extremes in the climatic pattern and has proven to be an excellent
multi-functional asset for the Foundation.
The theatre evenings are well attended by the community. It is envisaged that during the
2016/17 year many community concerts will be held here to afford the community the
opportunity to each perform their own story as part of a process of healing the wounds of our
country’s history.
