Back Where It All Began

They say that if you put good out into the world , good will come back to you . When Bianca Adamo graduated from Holy Spirit School in 2009 , as part of the first class of students to have attended every grade since the school opened in 2000 , she had no idea she would come back nine years later to join the faculty and teach in the very classroom she attended in second grade .
Lisa Coulter has been a member of the faculty since Holy Spirit opened its doors and in that very classroom , she
taught Bianca to write in cursive , multiply single digits and helped her prepare for her First Eucharist . Today , Lisa teaches eighth grade and remembers Bianca ’ s time in her classroom fondly , “ Her smile and attitude in the classroom made her the student you wanted your child to be friends with . She was compassionate and always welcoming to others . I know she will continue to spread her positivity and encouragement to every one of her students .”
Bianca ’ s memories are equally special
, “ My greatest memory of second grade was going through First Communion . Lisa , I ’ m still getting used to calling her by her first name , always made the class fun and engaging . I always remember feeling loved and special ,” she said . “ I vividly remember our Heritage Reports and biography book reports . I would love to continue these classroom traditions with my current students .”
Perhaps one day , one of her students will be back to teach at Holy Spirit School too .

Back to School Rally at Archbishop Mitty High School

More than 1,750 Archbishop Mitty High School Monarchs gathered in the Fien Gymnasium last month , just three weeks after the year started , to celebrate the annual Back to School Rally . It was an event marked by nearly deafening class cheers along with games , laughter , and spirit . Each class entered the gym wearing their color : green for freshmen , red for sophomores , blue for juniors , and black for seniors . But the real Monarch magic began when students
started to chant their class cheers .
“ The Back to School Rally is a great way for us to welcome the newest faculty / staff members to our campus while allowing each class to cheer and become more unified , all the while bringing our entire community closer in spirit ,” said Greg Walker , the Director of Student Activities . “ This passionate school spirit that is exhibited over the course of the rally is one of the key elements that make us who we are … Monarchs !”
Students from each class participated in a variety of races and contests , with their classmates cheering them on during each activity . The annual event served as a chance to come together and celebrate that each student is made in the image and likeness of God , with gifts they can share with their community .
“ Having been on the ASB side of the event this year , I loved being able to see the rally come together , and was
reminded what being a Monarch is truly about ,” said junior Paige Ashton , an ASB Spirit Commissioner . “ What I like most about this event is that it is the first event of the year where each class can demonstrate our school spirit , and we also get introduced as a new grade , with new colors , and new experiences .”

Saint John Vianney students with Father Steve Brown , serve the homeless during the Village House month long stay at Saint John Vianney Community Center .

Village House at Saint John Vianney

Saint John Vianney ( SJV ) School ’ s theme this year is , “ Deeds , not Words .” The SJV students are living these words .
Saint John Vianney Parish and School Community hosted 15 medically fragile women for the entire month of August . SJV students and community members woke up early to serve guests breakfast , prepare lunches for the following day , mop floors , and
wipe down kitchen counters .
Witnessing SJV students living out the Gospel message is very inspiring as they showed kindness , compassion , and respect as they reflect their true faith . The SJV Community will continue to pray for each Village House guest as they continue their journey in finding housing and reconnecting with their families ; may God bless them always .
