Alex and the Evergreen Forest

by Madison Kenney

I love how songbirds will often harmonize from above while the shining sun beams down.

Bright rays make me feel joyous, as they always kiss my skin, giving me a beautiful glow.

Warmth makes me cheerful, but moist air, as steamy as a sauna, makes me feel sticky and gross.

I enjoy taking on the May warmth, although sometimes the sweltering heat consumes me.

Buzzzzz! The sounds from noisy bees lingering around the tulips makes me nervous.

Fuzzy caterpillars inching their way up the intimidating branches brings a smile to my face.

I am a tiny ladybug navigating my way through a bumpy path in this evergreen forest.

The towering trees make me feel miniature yet at ease, as their leaves fill my lungs with life.

Almost like the boy in The Giving Tree, I had always felt a deep connection with trees.

I adore packing a picnic lunch and setting up right beneath my favorite apple tree.

Life pauses for a while I sit and crunch on my lunch, appreciating the sounds of a howling breeze.
