Lux needed to focus. His brother was still trapped somewhere. He needed those stones or the crown.

“What are the stones?”

Nyx clapped her hands together. She was clearly ecstatic to be talking about the prophecy once again.

“Oh, I’m sure Mother left you a clue somewhere. I got mine from Father, but he wasn’t too fond of the rest of you.”

“I’m going to find these stones and when I do...” he trailed off as he noticed the light had dimmed in the room. He looked up at the bulb to see it had begun to flicker.

He brought his attention back to Nyx, whose hands were raised in the air above her head. A black smoke-like substance spilled off of her hands and cascaded down from the catwalk.

“I think it’s time you left, Lux.”

Suddenly, the substance shot out and covered the ball of light in the ceiling, plugging the room into total darkness. Before Lux could even begin to adjust his eyes, an invisible wall began to push him backward. It was as if the darkness itself had become solid, which he realized was probably the case. He shot light in all directions, hoping it would stick, but all of his beams fizzled out just as quickly as they had appeared.

“I’m going to stop you.”

“I’d love to see you try.”

Lux felt the ground before he saw it. He pushed himself up and dusted off his pants. He looked around and saw he was outside the warehouse. No sooner had he made this conclusion, he was back on the ground and everything went black.
