Goodbye to the Land

by Mohamed Fayez

Goodbye to my lands now endlessly lost.

Goodbye to my destiny , rendered a farce.

Goodbye to my ancestors' graves, stuck in the earth.

Goodbye to bloodshed that succeeded the fourth.

Goodbye to my people forever to roam.

Goodbye to the partisans left unknown.

Goodbye to Al-Bassa blown to dust.

Goodbye to Al-Mansura not even left to rust.

Goodbye to Sirin evacuated by June.

Goodbye to the dead of Al-Dawayima , 80 killed by noon.

Goodbye to the Moon , so sweetly seen on the Galilee.

Goodbye to the Olive trees.

Goodbye to the wounded rendered amputees.

Goodbye to those who choose to ignore.

Goodbye to those who remained and endured.

Goodbye to the Adhan’s roar.

Goodbye to the spices of the Bazaar.

Goodbye to Amo Bashar.

We leave the soil, but our soul still remains.

A wandering people, only sharing a name.
