Emilio Gonzalez, the chief executive officer at Pendal Group, JO Hambro’s Australian parent company, will serve as acting CEO until a replacement has been found. Gonza- lez will temporarily relocate from Sydney to London for the role as the search a permanent replacement takes place. The Investment Association has promoted one its se- nior regulatory specialists to head of European affairs as the body prepares to establish a new office in Brussels. The biggest deal of the year in the exchange space came in March, when US futures exchange operator CME and UK FinTech powerhouse NEX Group reached an agreement which will see CME acquire NEX for £3.9 billion. BNY Mellon has appointed a head of digital in a newly-created role as the bank seeks to build a global team focusing on technologies, such as ma- chine learning and artificial intelligence. Roman Regelman joined BNY Mellon in mid-September as a senior executive vice president and head of digital, respon- sible for setting the direction of the bank’s digital future. Miles Kumaresan, head of trading and FinTech at Nordea Asset Management, is to leave the firm after two years. Kumaresan will turn his attention to establishing a new start-up, Wave Labs, which will develop technol- ogy to assist traders in the corporate bond space. Citi has made several key appointments to its ex- change-traded fund (ETF) business from rival institutions. In Asia Pacific, Citi has hired Antoine de Saint Vaulry as head of delta one ETF trading based in Hong Kong, tasked with growing the ETF business in the region. Also joining the delta one trading team in APAC is Pierre Thiriet. In Europe, former ETF trader at BNP Paribas, Arthur Laporte, has joined Citi’s delta one trading desk.
