Rep. Jim Pitts honored for philanthropy
On November 6, approximately 100 family, friends and supporters attended a reception to
honor Representative Jim Pitts for his public service, longtime friendship and support of
Baylor Health Care System and Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie.
The highlight of the evening was the surprise
announcement and unveiling of the Jim and Evelyn
Pitts Family Conference Center, honoring Rep. Pitts’
dedication to Baylor Waxahachie and the community.
While at the podium expressing his gratitude, it was
Jim’s turn to reveal the final surprise of the night, a
check for more than $25,000 in support of Baylor
Waxahachie.
As an elected official in Ellis County for 20 years,
Rep. Pitts’ commitment to Waxahachie and Baylor
runs deep. He has served as a valuable member of the
Baylor Waxahachie Board of Trustees since 2010. Over
the past three years his annual fundraiser around
Texas-OU weekend, known as “The Party,” has raised
more than $425,000 in support of continuing education and the new Baylor Waxahachie hospital.
“Although Rep. Pitts has announced he will not run
for re-election, he will continue to serve as a respected

member of the Waxahachie community and trusted
friend and member of the Baylor family,” said Joel T.
Allison, chief executive officer of Baylor Scott & White
Health.
The Jim and Evelyn Pitts Family Conference Center
will be located at the new Baylor Waxahachie hospital. With an opening planned for fall 2014, the new
129-bed, full-service hospital will serve more than
100,000 residents in Ellis County and surrounding
communities. With the addition of health care services
including women’s services, labor and delivery, cardiovascular care, wound care and an outpatient Sammons
Cancer Center, Baylor Waxahachie looks forward to
serving the community in a more comprehensive,
accessible manner.
