While we are enjoying a very wet spring, I know many of you are finalizing fun plans for your summer! Whether you get
away for a week or two or a month or two, I hope you do take time to slip away to relax and recharge! I used to think that
it was our kids going back to school that fueled the pace of fall, but it’s been a long time since our kids were in school, and
I can’t really claim much responsibility for preparing grand-kids going back to school, can I? Yet, the energy definitely
ramps up around September nonetheless. And I have cracked the code and know why!
Here at Baylor Health Care System Foundation, for example, the staff and wonderful volunteers focus their energies all
summer on preparations for our three great fall events! So when fall finally comes, we are all so jazzed that each one is
perfectly planned and can’t wait to welcome YOU!
Our Celebrating Women luncheon on October 15th will be another smashing success! Raising awareness and funds to
defeat breast cancer is serious business, but this luncheon is always an upbeat event so mark your calendars and come
be part of this day. There is also an opportunity to play golf and help fund medical education for our residents and fellows
at the Grand Rounds Golf Tournament, October 5th. This is always an invigorating day that helps ensure excellence in
our next generation of physicians! And if golf is not your thing, you might want to participate in the Diabetes Health and
Wellness Institute 5K walk on October 24th. Each event meets a critical need in funding to support the doctors, nurses
and researchers whose sole focus is healing for our patients.
Philanthropy and charitable giving are the keys to Baylor’s patient-centered care and research. I urge you to consider all
that your gift can do – large or small, every dollar counts, and you will feel the gratitude of knowing you helped countless
patients, their families and our community.
Maybe before you head to the mountains or beach, you’ll take a minute to sign up for one of our October events or
simply make a gift to Baylor. You’ll be glad you did!
