During the month of November, Keller Central High school’s FBLA chapter participated in a toy drive benefitting the Children’s Miracle Network. The members were tasked to purchase small items such as basic toiletries such as toothpaste and toothbrushes as well as recreational toys, that included toy cars, dolls, headphones, action figures, Lego kits, Play-Doh, etc. On top of the toy donations for the Children’s Miracle Network, Keller Central FBLA teamed up with Hillwood Middle School to create thoughtful, handmade holiday cards for the winter season. Students practiced the art of compassion, harnessed their creative card making skills, and at the end of the drive, the chapter collected, a total of over 200 toys and 90 holiday cards to give to the organization. On Sunday, December 11th, the Keller Central FBLA Officer Team and their co-advisor packed up the gifts and cards in a truck and drove up to the Cook’s Children's Hospital in Downtown Fort Worth and dropped off their donations. The officer team was graciously rewarded with a Certificate of Community from the hospital for their act of community service but better yet they were rewarded with the humbling knowledge and peace of mind, that they gave a handful of kids a small reason to smile this holiday season. Although it is easy to get caught up in selfish thoughts and actions during this time of year, Keller Central FBLA members were reminded that the greatest gift of all, is to give back.
