In Awe of Him > By Courtney Donald summer ministry team leader This past school year I had been praying and seeking the Lord in what He would have me do this summer. Through prayer and an internet search the Lord brought me to Camp Tejas. I was extremely nervous and worried because I was leaving home in South Carolina and traveling 17 hours away to Texas without knowing anyone. The Lord gave me courage and I came with confidence knowing that the Lord would provide and take care of me the whole time I was at camp. These past couple of months at Tejas I have grown so much in my relationship with the Lord. He has taught me to have patience with others and in His timing all things will come. I have truly sought out the Lord and what He looks like and how I want to mirror that image in my own life. I have been given the opportunity here at Tejas to be a team leader and grow in my leadership by being an example to those around me. I spend time with believers just like me, who enjoy talking about what the word of God says, and what it means to each person. Also, I have more knowledge of what the Lord wants a follower of Him to be like and the characteristics I should have. As a SMT member here at camp, I have learned the importance of scripture memory and how I should make it a daily habit in my life. No matter what the situation is, I can always recall the truth in His word to be my guide and help. I have enjoyed being able to develop lifelong friendships with the people I have worked along with this summer through praising and serving the Lord as one body of Christ. I am forever grateful for this opportunity that the Lord has given me to spend this season in my life at Camp Tejas, and the growth I have experienced through the amazing discipleship program here. I will take back home with me my experience and remember that the Lord will always provide and never leave me to stand alone, but will be my strong hold through the good and the bad times. I have to just trust in Him and have faith that could move a mountain, because He created me and the Lord wants to use me to teach others of His goodness through me. I will always remember that and be thankful when I think about summer 2009 at Camp Tejas! >> “I have truly sought out the Lord and what He looks like and how I want to mirror that image in my own life.” ( No. pages 2009 magazine.indd 8 4 Pool time ) Grab your friends and cannon ball into the deep end or play a game of marco polo.
