LIKE A CHILD

T
hen little children were brought to Jesus for Him
to place His hands on them and pray for them.
But the disciples rebuked those who brought
them.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and
do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:13-14).
In this passage Jesus demonstrates several things
to us. We should bring the children to Jesus and
should allow and encourage them to know Jesus.
During our apartment ministry this summer, my team
visited Giddings West apartments every Thursday
evening. Upon our arrival the kids would come to us
excited for the evening’s events. We would start the
evening with dodge ball and tag, sing some songs,
learn about a story in the Old Testament, memorize
a verse of scripture, and ?nish with snacks and small
groups. During small groups my team had the opportunity to ask the children questions about what they
had learned during the story and to get to know the
kids on a more one on one basis.
The most exciting part to me was when the kids
would come back the next week so eager to tell us
their verses from the prior week. If someone did not
remember their verse the other children would help
